Great tool for early chilhood teachers

This is a text book for my Science, Math, and Literacy class. It is really great and a must have. I took this to work with me and everyone wants one. I have to share it and I'm the one with homework! lol. We are implementing 3 activities next week. All these activites lead to language development. I like how a lot of the tasks get the children to cross the midline. What I like most is that it tells and shows you how to set up the activities so that a child that hasn't decided on which hand they like to use can choose for himself. If you set tools on the right side, the child will naturally pick it up with their right hand. If you set them on top then the child will have to think about which hand to use.

At last not only a "workbook" for the early childhood professional but one that parents can share with their children. Great learning tools with everyday items found around the house. This book contains articles from a workshop on "Modelling water and nutrient dynamics in crop-soil systems". Data sets from lysimeters and experimental fields of multiyear crop rotations were provided for modellers. A unique data set is provided of a 100 year long term field experiment regarding crop yield and organic carbon development under different management systems.

The book includes a detailed description of data sets which can be used by modellers and the papers describe the applications of 18 different modelling approaches describing soil-crop-atmosphere interactions for water, nitrogen and carbon dynamics.

A comparison of the models applied to the same data set is provided which points out similarities and differences in the description of single processes between the model approaches. The threat section reviews several scenarios that a terrorist might use and a very comprehensive list of the possible biological organisms and compounds that can be used as biological, mid-spectrum, and chemical threats. In the science and technology section, the technical aspects of a successful defense against WMD agents are presented. Arguments are presented for the control of the release of scientific information to bolster CB defense. Approaches to biological agent detection and a system for ranking detection technologies are discussed next. The generic approach to biological screening and detection is then illustrated with some applications of generic detectors to water, food, and aerosol. The future of biological detection and identification is also presented, along with a call to perhaps change the paradigms that we are using. The last section of the book deals with response system planning. An example of regional cooperation is presented. Risk-based management is discussed and a practical example of this approach to emergency planning is presented. Arguments for an epidemiological reporting system are presented, while the last chapter discusses means to integrate the various components of a response system via a software tool.

Larry Wilmorehas been a TV producer, actor, comedian and writer for over 30 years. He has written for In Living Color, the Bernie Mac Show, The Office, and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He won an Emmy and a Peabody Award for his work on the Bernie Mac Show. He lives in NY and LA.

Wilmore, "senior black correspondent" on Jon Stewart's "Daily Show," narrates a loosely linked collection of humorous pieces on race. Unfortunately, without expressions and gestures, neither his voice nor his writing is enough for a fully humorous effect. There are funny and telling moments, but also some dull ones--Wilmore is simply much funnier when seen. In print, the book's conceit of an editor introducing each piece could work, but here it's simply Wilmore pretending to be an editor introducing . . . Wilmore, which is, not to mince words, stupid. Other than Wilmore providing different voices (which he does fairly well), the production neglects opportunities (several simulated radio shows) to use the aural medium to advantage. This sometimes-amusing but basically under-par production may disappoint Wilmore's admirers. W.M. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine

A great listen!

I picked this up in anticipation of a long car ride and this audiobook did not dissapoint. Wilmore is a great comedian and humorist, and having Wilmore read his own words is about as close to a comedy album as you're going to get from him. But the added bonus is that these are broad ideas rather than quick punchlines (though he has plenty of zingers, too)and he takes his comedy very seriously.
There are a few "radio transcript" portions that I felt kind of dragged, and Wilmore reads every voice or person in those transcripts so it can get a little grating- kind of like someone reading a comic strip out loud. But Wilmore knows his timing and delivery and essays such as "Black weather men make me Happy (and sad)" as well as the "Eulogy for the N-word" are hilarious.
If you enjoy seeing Wilmore's appearances on the Daily Show, you will really enjoy this book.

Smart and funny performance

The title alone made me laugh out loud for a good five minutes. The stories only get better. Larry Wilmore's writing is so smart and witty. He rips apart, elucidates, and makes fun of assumptions about race and popular culture. Wilmore reminds you that laughing can still be profound. Wilmore narrates the production, and provides just the right timing.

I'd Rather We Got Casinos is the funniest book that I have enjoyed in years! I thing that he should get an award for it. I have been telling all of my friends and family about it. I even bought copies as gifts knowing that they would be surprised that they had not heard about this before. Larry is brilliant!!! I highly recommend it this book!
