Bravo (throw in A & E as well)

Even better than their 80's run. The proportion of humor to drama is perfect. DeMatteis and Giiffen have managed to have written the best characterizations of an alternative take on a traditional superhero that I have ever read- to see characters as fresh and likeable as their brash, blustery Superman, the naive flustery Flash, and the even fussier Batman and the still recognizable yet more bustier Guy Gardner are to see super hero comics at their best and frankly surpass the other super hero assemblages (by a country mile) that sell perennially in the Top Twenty.

Dumb Superman and returns with the gang from Justice League 3000 as well as other buddies

This is a fun take on the Justice League and other DC characters. It's essential that you read Justice League 3000 to understand what's going here. It may be a metaphor for reboots.
Even those who have read Justice League 3000 will be surprised by some of the classic characters who make appearances in this version of a DC Comics future.
I'm not sure if it would be offensive or empowering to transgender folk, but I think there is certainly some elements open for discussion about the way gender manifests itself here.
I'm not a big fan of Etrigan the Demon, but I did not find his presence to taint my enjoyment of the text.

Striving for the 80's Justice League but not there yet.

The story changes focus with this volume. Ariel Masters has been taken over by Lois Lane and she's sending the Justice League on missions to get them killed. The Justice League's personalities have been toned down to make them a little more likable. The feel of the series is trending towards the great 80's Justice League that Giffen and Matteis created. Some of the jokes are still flat so they still haven't quite hit that perfect balance of action and humor they had with the 80's series.
